Isabel was born on 18th January 2005. She was born prematurely weighing just 900g (1lb 15oz) and subsequently had feeding and mobility issues. Despite this Isabel was a healthy child, only suffering the coughs and colds any two year old would have. She showed great strength and determination in her short life and was beginning to make amazing progress in overcoming her disabilities.
However on 7th June 2007, completely out of the blue, Isabel collapsed and spent the next 16 weeks in hospital (12 of which were in Paediatric Intensive Care units). She fought a brave fight and defied medical odds on a number of occasions. Sadly on 18th September, aged just 2 years and 8 months, Isabel passed away as a result of an extremely rare metabolic disorder.
In Isabel's memory her Mum and Dad (Nikki & John) along with friends and family have been fundraising in support of three very worthwhile charities.
The charities are:
First Step (Supporting pre-school children with special needs and their families in Havering.)
COSMIC (Children of St Mary's Intensive Care)
CLIMB (National Information Centre for Metabolic Diseases)
On behalf of these charities Nikki and John would like to thank everyone for all their efforts and contributions. Your money really does make a difference.
So far we estimate an amazing £15,500 has been raised in Isabel's memory.
