If you're wondering why we use the ladybird sitting beneath the rainbow as Isabel's logo, it's very simple really. When Isabel was at First Step she always used to make for the dressing up box and her favourite costume was that of a ladybird (albeit with some unusal combinations of headwear e.g. a fireman's helmet on one occasion !). Like any other little girl she loved the princess and fairy outfits but her favourite was definitely the ladbybird costume. You will see ladybirds all around the house and garden - soft toys, lights, ornamnets and flower pots to name just a few items. As for the rainbow we suppose you could say it started on day one. Grand-Dad Joe sang her song about being the end of our rainbow. It was quite an old song and Nikki and John hadn't heard of it before but they soon picked up the words. It became a real favourite of Isabel's and we must have sang it to her at least twenty times a day (almost every day) and through the night if we had trouble getting Isabel back off to sleep. It's a beautiful song and we just changed the words slightly to suit Isabel. When we said our goodbyes to Isabel a rainbow appeared over the chapel and now we can't see a rainbow, or a ladybird for that matter, without thinking of our beautiful little girl. It always brings a smile to our faces - and the occasional tear to our eyes.
"You're the end of our rainbow
You're our pot of gold
You're our little girl
To have and to hold
A precious gem
That's what you are
You're your mummy's and daddy's
Shining star
You're the spirit of Christmas
You're the star on the tree
You're the Easter Bunny
To your family
You're sugar, you're spice
You're everything nice
And you're our little girl"
